Ryan Whisnant specializes in helping companies and development organizations to build and implement strategies and partnerships for improved environmental, social, and business performance. He currently leads Professional Services for PEMSEA, focused on coastal and marine sustainable development and integrated coastal management (ICM) investments. Ryan has consulted for large companies and development organizations including Microsoft, Cisco, Walmart, UBS, TIAA-CREF, USAID, World Bank, UNDP, and the US National Park Service. He has published articles on topics including energy and greenhouse gas management, organization development, and business model innovation and speaks regularly at industry events and management schools. While based in New York City, Ryan led sustainability for SunGard, a $4.5 billion technology services company, where he worked closely with executives to build the company’s office of sustainability. He has worked with pension funds, asset managers, and private equity firms on environmental and social risks and opportunities in investments across a variety of sectors including agriculture, insurance, real estate, and telecommunications. Ryan began his career at CES International (now Oracle), delivering energy management solutions to multi-billion dollar energy utilities. Ryan holds a BS in Environmental Engineering from Northwestern University, and an MS in Natural Resources & Environment and MBA from the University of Michigan.
