Rebecca Pearse is a Research Associate working on the Global Arenas of Knowledge ARC project, led by CIs Professor Emerita Raewyn Connell and Associate Professor Fran Collyer, with colleagues in São Paulo and Cape Town. The project explores the global dynamics of knowledge production in three domains of knowledge (climate change, HIV/AIDS, and gender relations) in three Southern-tier countries (Australia, Brazil, and South Africa).
Rebecca has research interests in the political economy of climate and energy governance, social responses to environmental change, and gender relations. Her PhD thesis documented political contestation over carbon pricing in Australia between 2007 and 2014. Rebecca has previously taught courses in environmental politics and political economy at UTS and the University of Sydney. In addition to peer-reviewed papers, Rebecca has co-authored a book with Stuart Rosewarne and James Goodman called Climate Action Upsurge: An Ethnography of Climate Movement Politics (Routledge, 2013), and co-authored a revision of Raewyn Connell's Gender: in World Perspective (3rd edition Polity 2014).
