Dallas is the managing partner and principal of cleantech research and consulting firm Kachan & Co. He was formerly managing director and executive editor of the Cleantech Group, the organization credited with coining the term cleantech and founding the cleantech investment class.
In 2006, Dallas founded Inside Greentech, the first trade publication focused on daily developments in green technology, acquired by Cleantech Group. Dallas has authored 400+ cleantech articles and reports, served on the board of the U.C. Berkeley Haas School of Business' Cleantech Institute, is on the editorial advisory board of the cleantech magazine Impact, is a regular speaker on cleantech worldwide and is widely quoted in business and trade press.
Dallas previously had a 15 year career as VP marketing in high tech, working with, consulting to or leading engagements for dozens of technology firms in Silicon Valley and Canada, both with his own firm and as a senior consultant with famed technology marketing innovator Regis McKenna. He has a bachelors degree in broadcast journalism from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada.
Dallas is also a pilot, and author of the novel The Starship Diaries, chronicling a two year round the world flight and travel adventure. He is Canadian by birth, lived 13 years in the San Francisco Bay Area and currently lives in Vancouver.
