Lorraine Smith is an Associate Director at Volans, collaborating with the team on the Breakthrough agenda since early 2016. With an aptitude for finding patterns, anomalies and possibilities within complex systems Lorraine has spent her career helping people understand new realities with a different mindset.
Originally from Toronto, Canada and currently based in New York, since 2004 she has consulted with global corporations in many sectors including agriculture, food, apparel mining and metals, financial services, retail, consumer goods, and manufacturing. She has held senior positions at SustainAbility, where she now collaborates as an Associate, and at Canadian Business for Social Responsibility, where she currently sits on the Board. She is on the Review Committee of the Future Fit Business Benchmark, an open source tool that quantifies how businesses are contributing to a sustainable future.
Prior to her focus on sustainable business, Lorraine worked as a Senior Business Analyst for Manulife Financial in Toronto, Canada, as a Manager of Customer Care for electronic engineering firm Compuspec in Auckland, New Zealand, as well as supporting fundraising and communications for World Wildlife Fund Canada. Lorraine is fluent in French, and also speaks conversational German, Portuguese and Spanish.
