Hosted by the National Landfill Division of the Waste Management Association of Australia, the 6th Australian Landfill & Transfer Stations Conference and Expo will be held from 27 – 30 July 2015 at the National Convention Centre, Canberra. The theme adopted for this year’s conference is “Continuing the transformation”.
Transfer stations and landfills are an essential component of an effective waste management system, and over the last decade these facilities have changed significantly in response to changes in policy, regulations, and community expectations. Transfer stations now have a primary role in sorting and recovering resources, as well as the efficient transfer of materials and waste to other facilities. Whilst landfills also commonly host a range of resource recovery activities, they also provide responsible disposal of residual waste.
In line with the theme, the conference will focus on the continuing transformation and improvement of transfer stations and landfills, and provide a forum to learn about and discuss the latest developments and innovations in policy, planning, design, management, monitoring and regulation of these facilities.
The conference will be of particular interest to: industry managers; regulators; local government councillors and staff; state and federal government; consultants; service providers; planners; environment managers; academics and engineers. Delegates will have the opportunity to hear from international and local experts, contribute to debate and discussion and network with their industry peers.
