In the last few years, air pollution has become one of the most prominent environmental, health and economic issues of our time. The announcement by the World Health Organisation that globally, air pollution now accounts for more than 7 million premature deaths each year – and exacts a health toll greater than malaria and AIDS combined – is a watershed.
Tackling this challenge effectively will require new technologies, new policies and new partnerships, and it will have significant implications for businesses – large and small, for public authorities at local, city and national scale, for international aid organizations, for the civil society, and for the scientific community.
In recognition of the scale and urgency of the issue, the two leading international meetings on air quality – the 17th International Union of Air Pollution Prevention Associations’ World Clean Air Congress and the 9th Clean Air Asia’s Better Air Quality Conference - are meeting jointly in a landmark event with the theme – Clean Air for Cities – Perspectives and Solutions - to explore the scientific, technological and policy advances that could solve this global challenge to health and the environment.
The meeting will provide a unique learning, outreach and networking event for relevant public agencies, businesses, research institutions and NGOs.
