Poor urban planning, a fast-growing populations, and climate change are threatening to sink Asia’s mega-cities in floods, warns the Asian Development Bank in a new report. The multilateral funding agency said the vulnerabilities of Asian cities to natural disasters are increasing every year and causing governments to lose billions. But not enough is being done to climate-proof these cities. Asian cities, it said, are four times more likely to be affected by natural disasters than Africa, and 25 times more vulnerable than Europe or North America. Flooding has also become three times more frequent across the Asia-Pacific in the past 30 years.
