Alliance to End Plastic Waste appoints Derrick Koh as public affairs director

Koh joins after almost five years heading the communications team at Schneider Electric in East Asia and Japan.

The Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW), a non-profit organisation based in Singapore, has hired Derrick Koh from Schneider Electric as director of corporate and public affairs.

Koh will be responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies that raise awareness and build the reputation of AEPW and its mission, including content development, social and digital media, and corporate marketing.

Koh will report to AEPW’s vice-president of corporate and public affairs, Allison Lim.

He takes on the role after almost five years with Schneider Electric, where latterly he was head of communications for East Asia and Japan.

AEPW is backed by firms in the plastic value chain, including ExxonMobil, Dow, Shell, BASF and Amcor, and has launched a number of projects to tackle plastic waste in developing countries.

Koh has worked in communications throughout his career, with roles on the client side for computing brand Lenovo, where he was Asia Pacific head of communications, and for public relations firms including Edelman, Eastwest PR, Porter Novelli and Newgate Communications.
