Asian countries take up offshore wind power

Offshore wind power is gaining ground outside the EU, a shift from the previous trend, says Digitimes Research. Three countries in particular are leading the way – Japan, South Korea and the US. Japan has been seen shifting to renewables of late following the disaster that hit its Fukushima nuclear facility. The country is setting up test sites for offshore wind energy and developing floating offshore wind technology. Jeju Island in South Korea, on the other hand, recently became the first South Korean location for an offshore wind farm.
