China Plans to Invest $6 Billion in Water Projects, Journal Says

China will invest more than 38 billion yuan ($6 billion) in water-conservation and irrigation projects in four northeastern provinces, the China Securities Journal reported.

The projects will cover a total area of 38 million mu (2.5 million hectares) as part of the nation’s efforts to add at least 150 million mu of high-efficiency water-saving projects in the years to 2020, the report said, citing an unidentified official from the Ministry of Water Resources.
