China reacts to mounting environmental protests

The Chinese government has required stringent risk checks for future industrial projects after several large protests erupted around the country over pollution. Apart from requiring risk assessments, a top official said, Chinese authorities will increase transparency and public involvement in deciding big-ticket projects with potential environmental impacts.
