Chinese firm to build US$10 million solar panel factory in Uzbekistan

China’s Suntech Power Holdings Co. plans to establish a solar panel factory in Uzbekistan at anestimated cost of $10 million, according to the Uzbek economics ministry.

Suntech and Uzbekistan’s state energy company Uzbekenergo have signed a memorandum for the project to be set up in the Navoiy free industrial and economic zone, the ministry said.

It did not clarify when the project would begin.

Based in Wuxi, China, Suntech claims to be the largest producer ofsolar panels in the world.
