Cyberjaya to reduce 21% of carbon emission by 2020

Cyberjaya, Malaysia’s version of Silicon Valley, is expected to have 21% reduced carbon emission by 2020, says its developer Cyberview Sdn Bhd acting managing director Izatul Arini Mohd Ariff Bakri.

The planned reduction in harmful gases is in line with the city’s carbon framework which includes tree planting, green buildings and district cooling as part of 12 core initiatives being applied by Cyberview.

“Powering Green in Cyberjaya is to consolidate all the green efforts under one platform and to create the roadmap for getting Cyberjaya as the Low Carbon City by 2025,” she said at the Powering Green in Cyberjaya event here yesterday.

The initiative is driven by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water and other green industry players.
