SINGAPORE firm Ecospec Global Technology has tied up with several European companies to cooperate on mitigating emissions from the shipping industry.
The environmental technology firm, founded in 2001, signed a series of agreements at the National Museum of Copenhagen on Friday.
Earlier this year, Ecospec launched CSNOx™, the first commercially viable solution
capable of reducing carbon dioxide (CO2), sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxide
(NOx) emitted by large tankers all in one process and in a single system.
This is achieved at a net carbon reduction, without acidifying the ocean, and with no other secondary pollutants or harmful substances discharged into the sea.
In addition, CSNOx™ is applicable for large land-based emission treatment such as
incinerators, power plants and refineries. The technology uses ultra-low frequency waves electrolysis
treatment technology to treat seawater/freshwater. The treated water becomes highly reactive in removing CO2, SO2, and NOx. The resultant wash or scrubbed water meets and surpasses discharge water international standard and no chemicals are introduced in the CSNOx™ treatment process.
“As a Singapore environmental emission solution company, our mission is to support the climate solution with concrete Singapore technology and invention to showcase to the world that Singapore has the world’s first commercially viable solution, CSNOx™ system, to solve the global emission problem,” said Mr Chew Hwee Hong, Ecospec’s Managing Director and Founder.
“Against the backdrop of increasing environmental consciousness at the national, corporate and social level, we believe our message to the worldwide audience at COP15 will reinforce Singapore’s position as a premier research and technology hub capable of creating market-leading products and services,” added Mr Chew.
