The Philippines, like many other countries, is turning to electric cars as the price of oil remains high. Currently, the country depends almost entirely on petroleum when it comes to transportation.
But the government has ambitious goals to combat rampant pollution, and avoid high fuel costs, with new electric vehicles that provide public transportation.
During the Manila International Auto Show 2011 (MIAS) organized by Worldbex Services International back in April, Chery launched its new models and introduced to the Philippine market a new technology in automotive; electric vehicles. “We have negotiated with Chery China to have these two concept cars displayed here because we want a feel of the alternative-fuel market in the Philippines,” said CMPI’s newly–appointed president and chief executive officer, Dr. Si-Chung Chang.
The cars were also brought to Cebu for an exhibit in Park Mall where people get see Chery’s new car models and even test drive the electric vehicles. The showcase was held from May 26 May 29 at Parkmall.
The electric vehicles are not yet out in the Philippine market but Chery hopes to pursue in making the cars available in the country to support zero-emissions vehicles for a better environment, the country’s Clean Air Act and the answer to the continuous increase of fuel costs.
The company did not just simply bring in new products or the latest motoring innovation, but they have propelled to the next level in establishing Chery, as a premium global brand and a household name.
