Godrej One receives LEED platinum precertification

Godrej Properties Ltd has announced that Godrej One, its commercial project in Mumbai, has received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum precertification. This is globally recognized as the highest rating of sustainable design.

Godrej One is part of the company’s ambitious project, The Trees, located at Vikhroli in Mumbai. Of a total area of 750,000 square feet in Godrej One, 250,000 square feet will be used as the headquarters for several Godrej Group companies, while the remaining 500,000 square feet will be leased to external tenants. Situated in the heart of the city, this development is well connected to all major transit points and business hubs.

The Trees seeks to offer its residents a commercially vibrant, aesthetically attractive, and pedestrian-friendly place to live, work, and play. Once completed, The Trees will house premium office space, residential towers, high-street retail and five star hospitality, all centered around a large four acre landscaped park. The Trees will be built in three phases starting with the first commercial building, Godrej One. At 2.8 million square feet, this is one of the largest real estate development projects in the city.

Continuing with the Godrej Group’s legacy of environmental leadership, this development aspires to be among the most sustainable in the world.  Cutting-edge sustainability features appear throughout the master plan and building design to ensure that energy requirements are minimized and water is conserved.  Godrej One is the second building being developed by Godrej Properties to have received the distinction of a LEED Platinum precertification after its project, Godrej Eternia, at Chandigarh received a LEED Platinum precertification earlier this year.Godrej Garden City, the company’s largest project located in Ahmedabad was selected by the Clinton Climate Initiative as one of just sixteen developments from around the world to partner them in the goal of creating a Climate Positive development.

The lead architect for Godrej One is Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, a New York based architecture firm that has many leading global landmarks including Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur and International Finance Center 2 in Hong Kong to its credit.  The landscape design for Godrej One was done by BalmoriAssociates, another leading design firm based out of New York that has done landscape work for exciting projects like the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.  Godrej Properties engaged Atelier Ten and Godrej & Boyce to help plan the sustainability program for Godrej One.
