Nine hydropower plants costing P9 billion and with total generating capacity of 50 megawatts will soon be installed in Panay Island in Western Visayas in the Philippines, according to the renewable energy developer Sunwest Water and Electric Company (Suweco).
In a statement sent on Monday, the company said the installation of the hydropower plants in the island aims to increase the current energy supply of the country from renewable energy from 20 per cent to 50 per cent in the next 15 years.
