Hyundai Mobis announced Wednesday that it has developed nine semiconductor chips for automobiles using Korean technology. They will save the nation W300 billion in imports within five years, it added (US$1=W1,111).
They include chips for the Idle Stop & Go fuel-saving system, alternator control system and smart keys, as well as for systems for assisting parking and recognizing traffic lanes and images.
The ISG system reduces fuel consumption by automatically switching the engine off when the car stops in traffic and instantly restarting it as soon as the driver is ready to move again. The alternator control system optimizes functions of the vehicle alternator to boost fuel efficiency.
