Indonesia halfway to healthy coral reefs

Indonesia’s Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister has announced that half of the damaged coral reefs surrounding the country have been restored as part of a five year project with the World Bank. The Republic has committed to protecting the value of its marine ecosystems for its future “Blue Economy”.  About 67 per cent of Indonesia’s coral reefs had been considered damaged before the project. The minister called the coral reefs, which recover quickly from damage, the “maritime Amazon”.
