Jacqui Hocking has moved on from the sustainability-focused video production and strategy company she founded almost a decade ago.

The Singapore-based Australian sold Vision Strategy Storytelling, or VS Story, to public relations firm Red Hill in 2022.

Hocking launched VS Story to give sustainability solutions in Asia more visibility and help brands position themselves in the sustainability context.

She is now working on a project basis with Now Partners, a consultancy that works with multinationals and family-run companies on developing sustainable business models.

VS Story is now led by Serene Tan, who reports to Red Hill’s group president, Manisha Seewal.

VS Story was one of the first companies in Singapore to become a certified B Corp, a sustainability certification scheme with rigorous environmental and social standards. However, the company recently lost its B Corp status because it was acquired by Red Hill.

Hocking was previously an ambassador for B Corp in Southeast Asia.

She told Eco-Business: “As the climate crisis accelerates, I continue to support those genuinely committed to impactful work across South and Southeast Asia. This means, doing what I can to contribute towards Singapore’s vision of becoming a global hub for philanthropy and green finance, and continuing the mission of the B Corp movement; to transform the economic system into a more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative global economy.”

Hocking is also co-founder and executive director of the Singapore Eco Film Festival, which brings sustainability issues to a broader audience through documentaries.

Over her career as a social entrepreneur, she co-founded GA Circular, previously known as Gone Adventurin’, a sustainability consultancy, and video production company LateNite films, with her brother in 2008.

In an interview with Eco-Business last year, the Australian shared her experience with burnout, and how making significant lifestyle changes helped her survive the stress of running a business during the Covid-19 pandemic.
