Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Darwin Zahedy Saleh launched Clean Energy Awareness Day on Sunday to promote clean energy use.
“We call on the community to choose clean energy and to save energy,” Darwin said during the program’s launch at the Ancol amusement park in North Jakarta.
The ministry’s director general for renewable energy and energy conservation, Luluk Sumiarso, said at the event that Clean Energy Awareness Day would be celebrated every May 29 beginning this year.
“This is part of our efforts to create a healthier environment,” Luluk said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Darwin said the government would use the Eco Park at Ancol to promote the use of clean energy.
He also said the ministry would build a mini power plant at the park to help people, especially youth, learn about energy management.
