Mitsubishi launches its newest nuclear-ready robot

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has launched its inspection and maintenance robot for use in the country’s nuclear plants. The MHI-MEISTeR (Maintenance Equipment Integrated System of Telecontrol Robot) has two arms capable of collecting samples or removal of obstacles when it goes inside a contaminated nuclear plant. The robots arms can also hold on to various tools making it capable of cutting pipes or handrails while it collects samples. Mitsubishi said the MHI-MEISTeR is a combination of robots they have previously developed to assist inspections of nuclear accidents.
