The South Tangerang city administration estimated that the construction of the Serpong-Bandara Soekarno Hatta monorail project may be completed in three year’s time.
“Three years for the building of the monorail project is quite long but flexible,” head of the South Tangerang Transportation, Communications and Information Agency Agus Mulyadi said here Monday.
Agus hoped the construction of the monorail would not be further delayed like in other areas in Greater Jakarta.
Therefore, he hoped talks and deliberations on the construction of a monorail would be smooth and get the support of all the relevant authorities, including private businesses.
“We believe building the monorail will be successful in solving the 17 serious points of traffic jams, including in Serpong,” he said.
Besides, Agus also said that the construction of the monorail project had been preplanned by the Banten Road Development Agency.
But as South Tangerang city had been affected by development projects, the local administration will also be involved. Some discussions and studies are still to be made on budgets and development.
In the meantime, head of Commission D of South Tangerang legislative assembly Iwan Rahayu said the construction of the monorail project is still a discourse, apparently because the legislative assembly has not yet received the project’s site plan.
