More solar mega-projects for India

Welspun Energy has announced it would invest Rs 1,000 crore (1 crore is just over US$184,000) to install a 100 megawatt (MW) solar farm in the state of Chhattisgarh in central India.

The energy firm has already begun developing more than 250 MW of solar capacity and 800 MW of wind capacity in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka, and plans to install 1.7 GW of solar and wind power projects within the next three years.

The state government has agreed to assist with permits and land sourcing for the project as part of the state’s goal to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels.
