New building constructions urged to be eco-friendly

The PimpriChinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) wants all new buildings that come up in the township in the next three-four years to be eco-friendly structures.

Addressing a workshop on green buildings inPimpri on Tuesday, municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi said, “The population of Pimpri-Chinchwad will increase to 45 lakh by 2040, which will be 2.5 times the current population. Ours is the fastest growing city in the state and third fastest growing city in the country. If we want the next generation to have the same quality of environment that we have, we need to plan our future now. The PCMC envisions that buildings coming up in the city after three to four years will be green buildings.”
