No smooth sailing for urban water transport

Town planners in the Indian city of Kochi are blaming city administrators for delays to a moden water transport system that could ease traffic congestion and improve quality of life for citizens.

Little progress has been made in the two years since planners proposed a system of upgrades and new passenger ferries and junkars that could potentially eliminate 75,000 private vehicle trips or about 2,500 bus trips per day.
