Northern provinces continue to be covered in haze

Provinces in the northern region of Thailand are still experiencing above standard haze issue, while hot spots have been detected in Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand, according to the MNRE.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) has detected hot spots that could be the cause of wildfires in Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand.

The current haze situation in northern Thailand is still above the standard level, especially in Mae Hong Son province.

The MNRE’s Deputy Permanent Secretary Suphot Tovichakchaikul today said that 291 hotspots have been detected in the 50 provinces in the north and northeastern region of Thailand, resulting in the ongoing haze situation in many areas, especially in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Lampang province.

He said that the Pollution Control Department has been ordered to closely monitor the situation, while the public is also asked to refrain from any burning activity in open spaces to help reduce the particulate matter in the air.
