Penang state secretary Farizan to tackle floods with natural disaster team

The Penang state government has appointed state secretary Datuk Farizan Darus to lead the state’s natural disaster committee to manage the flash flood in George Town.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the system to manage natural disaster crises was still in place despite the dissolution of the state legislative assembly.

“State secretary Datuk Farizan Darus will be in charge to lead the natural disaster committee following the flash flood in a few areas including George Town since 4am Saturday,” he said in a statement.

According to the Department of Irrigation and Drainage, the volume of rain water in Sungai Pinang was at 85mm, 90mm in Kolam Kondang, 107mm in Lorong Batu Lanchang, 85mm at Jalan Scotland, 114mm at Kolam Air Hitam , 168mm at Bukit Bendera, 83mm at Jalan P. Ramlee and 141mm at Sungai Air Terjun.
