The 2011 Taiwan International Photovoltaic Forum and Exhibition (PV Taiwan) wrapped up at the World Trade Center in Taipei City Oct. 8, attracting over 10,000 visitors from more than 60 countries during its three-day run.
“The scale of the exhibition was 30 percent larger than last year’s, with 286 enterprises setting up a total of 806 booths, demonstrating the vitality of Taiwan’s solar cell industry, which ranks second globally,” a Taiwan External Trade Association (TAITRA) official said.
The exhibition, put on jointly by TAITRA and the global trade association Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International, featured several theme areas, including the first-ever DSSC (dry-sensitized solar cell) Pavilion and PV Cells/Modules/Systems Pavilion. Other exhibits included an HCPV (high-concentrated photovoltaic) Pavilion, as well as New Products & Solutions Outlook and an Academic Poster Section with cutting-edge technology on display.
TAITRA said future market potential is particularly strong for HCPV, whose heat-resistant characteristics and limited space requirements make it particularly attractive to many island countries blessed with dry and sunny climates.
The council said 125 one-on-one procurement meetings were arranged during the exhibition, resulting in on-site and follow-up business deals amounting to more than US$180 million.
PV Taiwan 2012 is scheduled for Oct. 3 to 5 next year, according to TAITRA.
