In less than 20 years, solar and wind energy could be the cheapest form of power in Australia. The Australian Climate Change Commission (ACCC) said in its latest report that this development in the renewables sector could even happen before 2030, if carbon prices in the country drive more demand. It said renewables only account for about 10 per cent of Australia’s energy mix but solar panels are installed in some 754,000 households and business as of July this year. Queensland was noted in the report as the leading federal state in solar PV installation, doubling its solar energy use in less than two years.
