The head of the revived Keep Singapore Clean Movement is all for a new bid to shame and punish the city’s most obstinate litterbugs. Alexandra Health group chief executive officer Liak Teng Lit, who chairs the Public Hygiene Council, said the litter now seen around the city only shows that four decades of anti-litter campaigns need reworking.
Mr Liak has suggested some tougher penalties for littering like the issuance of work orders and summons to penalize as well as shame illegal dumpers. He is also planning to put up a “Shame on You” website to encourage the public to post videos of inconsiderate dumping and littering they see on Singaporean streets.
