Singapore forms Ministerial Committee on Tianjin Eco-city project

The Singapore Government formed a Ministerial Committee to enhance the coordination and support among government agencies for the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city project.

The Ministry of National Development said the formation of the Committee reflects the importance Singapore attaches to this joint project, one of the only two Government-to-Government collaborations between Singapore and China.

Beyond its physical development, various Singapore agencies are also working with their Tianjin counterparts to support the economic and social development of the Eco-city.

National Development Minister, Mr Mah Bow Tan, is Chairman of the Ministerial Committee.

Other Ministers in the Committee are: Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office/Second Minister for Finance and Transport, Ms Grace Fu, Senior Minister of State for National Development and Education, Mr Zainul Abidin Rasheed, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, and for Manpower and Dr Amy Khor, Minister of State for Environment and Water Resources

The Committee will be making a three-day visit to Tianjin from January 24-26 to update themselves on developments.

The delegation will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of National Development and other relevant Singapore ministries and agencies.
