Singapore’s waste could be headed underground

An underground landfill in the western part of Singapore is one of ten options under consideration for the city-state’s underground urban land plan. Singapore’s Urban Redevelopment Authority is studying the idea for an 8 square kilometre underground cluster of silos as a contingency plan to  supplement the Semakau Landfill, an off-shore site where the Republic’s incinerator ash and non-organic waste are currently deposited.
