Seo, who was with Singtel for more than five years, is Maxeon’s first sustainability hire.
During his time at the telecommunications giant, Seo worked with the sustainability teams at the conglomerate’s regional associates in the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and India. As part of a one-year overseas assignment with Singtel, he also joined Optus, the company’s subsidiary in Australia, as an environmental manager in 2018.
In 2019, Seo was recognised as one of 10 United Nations Global Compact SDG Pioneers worldwide for his efforts to champion sustainability and mobilise companies to be a force for good.
Maxeon, a Singapore-headquartered firm, officially spun off from United States-based solar energy firm Sunpower Corporation four months ago. It designs, manufactures, and sells solar modules in more than 100 countries.
It recently signed on to the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, committing to align its operations with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
