Joining Acre as executive director, Asia, is Paddy Balfour, who previously worked for recruitment firms Ferguson Partners, Robert Walters and Michael Page in London, Sydney and Hong Kong.
Balfour is currently based in Hong Kong, but plans to relocate to Singapore, where Acre is regionally headquartered.
Acre, which was founded in London in 2003, opened an Asia Pacific hub eariler this year.
Acre’s new Asia operation aims to service multinational as well as domestic employers. It services employers in three key areas – sustainable business, finance and energy.
Balfour said he was joining Acre at a time of “exponential growth” in demand for sustainability expertise in the corporate world in Asia Pacific.

There is going to be exponential growth in hiring sustainability talent across Asia Pacific.

“There is a huge demand for talent and therefore huge demand for specialist recruiters who can bridge the gap and identify, find and introduce the right candidates to clients who are trying to grow their sustainability talent in the region,” he said.
Holding a geography degree, Balfour said he has been looking to move into the sustainability sector for a while, having spent a varied career working for generalist recruitment firms.
“I have wanted to be in an environment where I could make an impact and find an organisation in which I can put my skillset and experience to use in a positive way,” he said.
