Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Pune, vice chancellor Dr Prahlada on Thursday stated that Anantapur district can become a hub for green solar energy if it was exploited properly and converted into electrical energy without using photovoltaic cells.
While addressing the 4th annual convocation of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University here on Thursday, he said Anantapur district was suitable for green solar energy exploitation and technology and funds should be utilised properly after involving universities and industries in this regard.
He said that focus should be laid on solar energy generation based on Silicon polycrystalline cells, which includes energy consumed to produce solar panels.
Dr.Prahlada stressed on the need to make changes in the research system and involve universities, industries , government and private laboratories in the research and development activities.
