A multi-million waste to energy power plant and ecological techno park will be set up in Bay, Laguna, to solve the garbage and waste problem.
The proposed construction of the power plant to be fuelled by garbage and waste, came after Bay officials, led by Mayor Jose O. Padrid, passed a resolution asking the Concord Pacific Investment Holdings, a US-based company represented by its president Engr. Jose U. Utrillo, to help them solve the perennial garbage problem in the town by putting up a waste to energy plant and ecological technopark.
This prompted Utrillo to enter into a deal with Bay officials after the latter signified their intention to host the construction of a power plant that will solve the garbage problem.
Utrillo, however, assured local executives that his company will use highly-pressurized compactors in securing the garbage to be collected from the towns. “Bawat patak ng basura na lalabas ay malaking kawalan sa aming kompanya dahil ang mga katas ng basura na ito ang magiging steam na siyang magpapatakbo sa aming makinarya.” (Each piece of trash that goes out is a huge loss for our company because the trash is used to generate steam that will be used to power our equipment).
Utrillo told the folk that there would be no problems with the transportation of garbage into the site as there would be no leaks and emissions of foul odor along the way. “Wala pong katas at amoy na lalabas dahil gagamit tayo ng high-tech compactors; wala ring gas leak dahil sophisticated ang mga gamit namin.” (There will be no smell because of the high-tech compactors used, nor will there be any gas leak because of the sophisticated equipment).
Bay local officials agreed to host the garbage processing plant that will convert garbage into electricity, believing that it will help solve the garbage problem in the town and neighboring areas.
Padrid and members of the Bay town council have adopted a unanimous resolution expressing willingness to host the garbage plant, admitting that they do not have the funds to set up a waste disposal facility as required by Republic Act 9003 for every government unit.
