Winnie Tan, the long-time head of sustainability for Standard Chartered Bank, has moved to Great Eastern as senior vice president of sustainability, a newly created role at the life insurance firm.

Tan moves on from Standard Chartered after 16 years with the bank, where she was first corporate affairs manager in Singapore and China, later rising to head of sustainability for Southeast Asia and South Asia.
She takes on a new role at Great Eastern to help the company navigate and prioritise sustainability risks. It involves protecting the company against emerging challenges, identifying new opportunities to create value and drive performance, and “building a future that we would want our kids to live in,” Tan posted on LinkedIn on Tuesday.
She joins a company that launched what it says is the first “green” life insurance product in Singapore in July. It is a policy that invests its portfolio assets to achieve “positive environmental impact.”
Tan joined Standard Chartered in 2005 after beginning her career in media. She has worked in sales and marketing for Singapore Press Holdings and The Edge Publishing.
