A joint venture between Wirsol and Greenpower Capital will be financing a 10 MW project in Japan. Jeff Butler, President of Greenpower Capital, said going into Japan is the natural progression after doing project finance in the US, Ontario, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and the UK. Stefan Riel, on the other hand, said finance is the bottleneck of ramping up PV projects to megawatt scales in Asia Pacific. Their partnership with Greenpower Capital, he said, allows them to partner with the local developers in building mega-solar projects in Japan.
