World Bank urges actions to ‘turn down the heat’

Global development lender World Bank has warned in its latest report that all nations stand to suffer the effects of a 4C hotter world, as it strives to aggressively integrate climate change into development projects. Its report, entitled Turn Down the Heat, said that while the effects of climate change are worldwide, it is the world’s poorest nations that will be hit hardest by extreme weather events, rising sea levels and food shortages. Jim Yong Kim, new World Bank president, said the world will never see the end of poverty unless it tackles climate change. The World Bank report outlined the impact of a world warming up to 4C towards the end of the century- a scenario foreseen under current policies.
