After 9 years working with World Wide Fund for Nature’s sustainable finance team, latterly as Asia head based in Singapore, Jeanne Stampe has left the conservation group for a job in academe in London.

One of the leading voices for sustainable finance in Asia Pacific, Stampe has been been behind numerous important initiatives to drive the greening of the sector, including the Asia Sustainable Finance Initiative (ASFI), a multi-stakeholder platform that brings together the finance industry, academia, and science-based organisations to help finance group deepen their green finance expertise.
She also drove an annual study that monitors the progress banks in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations are making in embracing environmental, social and governance factors (ESG) in their lending portfolios.
Stampe has moved to the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), where she is a senior fellow at the newly formed Centre for Sustainable Finance (CSF). She is currently working remotely from Singapore due to travel restrictions as a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
CSF aims to be a focal point for policy debate on green finance. It is a member of the Global Research Alliance for Sustainable Finance and Investment (GRASFI), a collective of universities working on sustainable finance research. GRASFI was recently selected by Network of Central Banks and Supervisors for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) as research partner.
Before joining WWF in 2011, Stampe worked in finance and investing, with firms including Affinity Equity Partners, Apax Partners and Goldman Sachs.
WWF’s Singapore-based finance team is now jointly run by Keith Lee and Anna Batenkova.
