Work on construction of a paper plant started on October 17 in the Minh Quan industrial zone in Tran Yen district, the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai.
The Yen Bai paper mill is being constructed by Northern Paper Join Stock Company, at a cost of VND1 trillion over two phases with a final annual capacity of 50,000 tonnes of paper, using modern and clean technologies.
The first phase of the project, worth VND300 billion with a capacity of 20,000 tonnes of paper, is expected to be completed after 18 months and the second phase will be done 2012-2015.
Once put into operation, the factory will employ over 550 workers and generate jobs for thousands of local people.
