7th Methanol Markets & Tech 2012 explores deployment growth of new applications, MTO, MTP and Methanol market dynamics

7th Methanol Markets & Tech, to be held this May in Shanghai and organized by the Centre for Management Technology, will highlight the latest developments in methanol markets, new applications of methanol blended fuels, DME, Fuel Cell, MTO/MTP and many more.

Scheduled on the 10-11 May 2012 in Shanghai, the Centre for Management Technology’s 7th Methanol Markets & Tech conference promises the latest updates, views on the methanol market dynamics, global trade flow, pricing trend and more. And, as remarked by a Nexant delegate who attended the 6th Methanol Markets & Tech in Dubai last year, the day and a half long conference was a “very useful event for meeting producers and technology providers.”

Now into its 7th year, new in agenda are the country/region focused sessions covering Australia, India and South East Asia markets. Sharing their views and experiences on Methanol project scenario in their respective locality are Robert Zammit, Executive Manager - Business Development, MEO Australia; Anil Bansal, Chief Marketing Manager- Methanol, Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers (GNFC); and M Suhaimi Bursa, Head of Sales, Methanol & MTBE, PETRONAS Chemicals Marketing Sdn Bhd.

Another key focus in this year’s event are the dedicated sessions on deployment growth of new applications, chiefly, methanol blended fuels, DME, Fuel cell and MTO/MTP. The spotlight will fall on plenary papers addressing Transition from Chemical Commodity to Energy Resources: Role of Methanol in Energy Sector (MTBE, Biofuels, Methanol-Blended Fuels & DME); Methanol to Olefins/Propylene (MTO/MTP); Updates of the CTO/MTO Production Facility and Technological Economics in Baotou; China’s MTO Production & Technological Economics - Can this model be applied for other Coal-Rich Countries?; plus Methanol Fuel Cell Deployment Worldwide Providing Growth Opportunity for Methanol Distribution.

In addition to providing a detailed analysis of the Methanol market and the significant role new applications play in the industry, this program also includes insightful sessions on recent breakthrough and developments below:

  • GigaMethanol® – The Next Big Thing for the Methanol Industry by Mr. Norbert Ringer, Group Product Manager Methanol, Catalytic Technologies-Chemicals, Sud-Chemie AG
  • Emergence of Methanol Futures Trading & Opportunities by Mr. Wei Zhenxiang, Director, Product Development, Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (ZCE)
  • Rise of Methanol-Gasoline Fuel-Blending & Expected Growth & Demand in China by Mr. Jiang Lianbao, Secretary-General, China Association of Alcohol & Ether Clean Fuels and Automobiles (CAAEFA)
  • Outlook of Chinese Economy & Credit Environment for Domestic Methanol Industry by Mr. Nicholas Zhu Ning, Head of Macro-Commodity Research, Asia, ANZ Banking Group Limited

Backed by experts from across the sector, and experienced professionals who are familiar with the challenges of scale, commercialization and potential of methanol as a clean transportation fuel and vital chemical feedstock, this event in China bodes well in reflecting China’s own methanol processes trials as well as introduction of the world first methanol futures product in Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange. Further, to promote greater local participants, the organizer has arranged for simultaneous translation in English and Mandarin throughout all the sessions.
