Biothane strengthens commitment to pulp & paper industry at China Paper 2012

From 10 to 12 September, Biothane a global leader in anaerobic technologies and part of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies (Veolia), will reinforce its dedication to the pulp & paper industry at China Paper 2012. The event, now in its 20th year, brings together industry professionals from around the world. Water treatment technologies from Biothane will be on display at Booth 3605.

At China Paper 2012, Biothane will focus on showcasing its anaerobic solutions specific for the pulp & paper industry. These technologies, such as the BIOBED™® EGSB system, not only treat wastewater but also reduce pollution and recover energy to achieve minimal environmental impact. Biothane’s anaerobic innovations use less energy and chemicals, occupy less space, and incur lower sludge handing costs, when compared to aerobic alternatives.

Michael JING, Business Development Director, shared, “Biothane has worked with pulp & paper businesses for many years in China. From our 530 references worldwide, more than 50 are in pulp & paper, which gives us great insight into the industry’s needs. We are excited to share more about our expertise for the sector here at China Paper 2012.”

Biothane in China

With a growing awareness about Biothane’s capabilities, the company’s business in China has been on the rise. In response to this, Biothane recently launched a new Chinese website (http://www.biothane.cn/), with information catered to local customers.

Besides a strong presence in the pulp & paper sector, Biothane technologies are also widely adopted by Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) manufacturers. Just last month, Biothane Asia Pacific sealed an agreement with a global oil & gas company to supply key equipment for the novel BIOBED® Advanced EGSB system. This innovation is a high performance wastewater treatment technology that is well-suited for processing highly concentrated effluents, also commonly observed in the pulp & paper industry.

Jean-Philippe FILHOL, CEO of VWS Asia Industrial said, “China is a very important market for Veolia, and it is heartening to have numerous local and international companies across various industries adopting our technologies. We look forward to assisting many more businesses in their water treatment with innovative product recovery and resource recycling solutions.”
