Cost reduction strategies revealed to Europe’s offshore wind industry

In little over a month, the first-ever Offshore Wind Energy Summit with an exclusive focus on development pipelines, installation technology, logistics and contract management will take place in Hamburg, the principal location for offshore wind in Europe.

More than 150 senior level wind industry executives – already comprised of 25 Utilities and 80 installation specialists – have begun to engage with one another in preparation for their arrival at Hamburg’s Royal Meridien for the 5th Annual Offshore Wind Construction, Installation and Commissioning Conference (October 14-15, 2013).

With a global delegation, attendees are geared up to gain exclusive insight into the very latest industry methodologies to remove the uncertainty surrounding far shore wind construction. They will examine advanced installation solutions for cost & time efficient deep-water project delivery. Topics to be covered include the very latest updates from developers with large development pipelines, the offshore grid, foundation and substation structures and their installation, cable installation, far from shore logistics, contract management, and overall risk mitigation strategies.

Despite the uncertainty that surrounds future support mechanisms for offshore wind in Europe, it is clear the industry will continue to pay a part in the energy generation mix. Developers however do need to pay particular attention to their offshore strategies to minimise risk and lower CaPEX cost to attract investors to help fund future projects.

In response to this, integrated contractors and manufacturers have started to offer valuable technologies and competitive packages for offshore wind farm installation that could help significantly increase a stakeholders return on investment (ROI). The question on the end of everyone’s tongue is what works, and where to find it.

“Wind Energy Update is proud to be the primary source of exclusive, industry demanded information surrounding offshore wind” says Jon Harman, the managing director of Wind Energy Update. “As an organisation, we understand how to drive both a company’s growth and profits, and we will strive to provide the audience with the targeted material and individuals that they need to achieve them”.

Scottish Power Renewables, Ofgem, The Carbon Trust, the Crown Estate, 50Hertz Transmission GmbH, BARD Holding GmbH, DONG Energy, Mainstream Renewable Power, RWE OLC, Tennet Offshore GmbH, Vattenfall Europe Windkraft GmbH are just a few of the European companies who will meet this October in Hamburg to discuss, debate and appraise the latest offshore strategies to reduce costs, optimise offshore operations, and improve overall ROI.
