Membership reinforces company’s leadership position on regional sustainability
SINGAPORE, JULY 21, 2016– Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. today announced that it has become the first company in the document management and solutions field to be a Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) GOLD Community Member. This achievement, as well as Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific’s participation at the 5th GRI global conference held earlier this year, further strengthens the company’s leadership in sustainability issues in the Asia Pacific region.
The company’s membership in the GRI GOLD Community is the first step in its long-term collaboration with GRI, and will not only expand the reporting disclosure system for its businesses in the region, but also raise sustainability awareness and execution. In addition, with GRI increasing its focus on the region, Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific will continue to be a strong driving partner for sustainability initiatives as its business grows together with its customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
“This partnership with GRI underscores Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific’s long-term commitment to sustainability and the initiatives we have already been implementing in line with sustainable business practices,” said Janet Neo, head of corporate sustainability, Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific. “With this membership, Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific is raising the sustainability bar to the next level by ensuring our sustainability reporting remains at the forefront of GRI reporting standards to create new value for our stakeholders and how our business can drive action towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.”
Fuji Xerox’s Commitment to Sustainability
Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific aligns its business operations to support Fuji Xerox’s global sustainability commitment, which is to reduce its regional carbon footprint across its value chain by 30 percent by 2020 and to lead its customers, partners and vendors on sustainability issues. The company has also implemented an integrated resource recycling system to reuse parts across the document management and printing ecosystem, and provides leadership to the Asia Pacific business community by engaging its customers on what sustainability and reduced carbon footprint means. Fuji Xerox became a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact in 2002 and was nominated a UN Global Compact LEAD company (there are now 49 such companies throughout the world) in 2010 in recognition of the commitment of Fuji Xerox top management and the company’s proactive measures in this field.
“Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific sees corporate social responsibility as synonymous with corporate management,” Neo said. “We believe that sustainability must be at the core of all business in order for economies to thrive and businesses to succeed. Such thinking shapes the values and culture of the company as we continue to develop innovative solutions that foster sustainable economic growth.”
