The ASE group of companies, the engineering division of Rosatom State Corporation, said today that they have laid the foundation stone of the Kudankulam NPP Units 3 and 4, which is part of Kudankulam NPP located in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
At the same time, they marked the event by synchronising Kudankulam NPP Unit 2 with the Indian national grid.
These developments were significant in the context of marking Indo-Russian Friendship and Cooperation, said ASE.
Kudankulam NPP Units 3&4 of in India - the first and most important nuclear facility constructed by Russian and Indian parties jointly - were started within the framework of the BRICS summit in October 2016.
To mark these milestones, there was a video conference between the Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi in Goa and the President of ASE Group of Companies, V.I. Limarenko at the Kudankulam NPP construction site.
According to Mr Limarenko: “Today we are handing over the second power unit of Kudankulam NPP for operation. We have undertaken great obligations and fulfilled them. This is an exclusive result of our joint efforts with Indian partners. We continue our work guided by unconditional principles of safety and efficiency.”
Currently, the Indian party completed necessary preparatory works in order to start the construction of units 3 and 4 of Kudankulam NPP within the framework of its own obligations. All necessary infrastructure has been created and the design documentation has been generated for the plant site area. The Facility Customer -Nuclear Power Corporation of India (Ltd) (NPCIL) - has obtained a permission for execution of excavation works and proceeded with them.
“We have started a new large-scale project on construction of third and forth power units”- said the President of ASE Group of Companies. “Current start of the second stage of Kudankulam NPP from the first concrete pouring of in the power units 3 and 4 foundation slab is a next important step of our time-proven Russian-Indian partnership. We have tense hard work ahead, but we are sure that only jointly with Indian partners can we achieve success in our joint activities in the interests of our countries”.
On the whole Kudankulam NPP construction project is a perfect example of successful promotion of Russian technologies onto the world market”.
