Shujog announces new non-executive director - Professor Alex Nicholls

Impact Investment Shujog Limited (Shujog) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Alex Nicholls, Professor of Social Entrepreneurship, Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, as a Non-Executive Director on Shujog’s Board of Directors.

Professor Durreen Shahnaz, founder of Shujog, shares, “It is our pleasure and honour to have Alex on board as our new Non-Executive Director. With his extensive years of experience in the social entrepreneurship space and social finance market, he brings unique insights and perspectives that will further grow and strengthen Shujog’s partnerships across Singapore, Asia Pacific and across the world. We are thrilled that he will help grow Shujog to implement strategies and programs that will deepen the social entrepreneurship, social enterprise and impact investing space in Asia.”

As the first staff member of the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, Professor Nicholls has helped grow the Centre to become the leading academic entity for the advancement of social entrepreneurship worldwide. During his ten years at the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, Professor Nicholls has published more than sixty papers, chapters and articles and five books.

His research on social entrepreneurship and social innovation informs government decisions and as an advisor to the Office of the Third Sector (now the Office for Civil Society), Professor Nicholls helped shape the UK‘s social enterprise policies. Professor Nicholls holds a BA (Hons), MA and PhD in English Language and Literature from King’s College, London and an MBA from Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford.

Professor Nicholls shares “I have a deep admiration for Shujog’s social impact work with Asia social enterprises in strengthening their communities through impact investment, and look forward to assisting the Board expand Shujog’s footprints in Singapore and Asia Pacific, increase partnership initiatives, and impact as many lives as possible.”

With the appointment of Professor Nicholls, he will join Professor Durreen Shahnaz, Founder and MD of Shujog, Mr. Robert Kraybill, MD of Impact Investment Exchange (Asia) Pte Ltd, Ms. Ruby Shang, Senior Advisor of the Clinton Foundation and Professor Albert Teo, Associate Professor of NUS Business School on the Shujog Board of Directors.

Shujog looks forward to continue growing its presence in Singapore, magnifying impact, scaling the quantity of social enterprises and broadening the knowledge base with the social enterprise and impact investing sectors.
