Between October 11th-17th Circular Week will be held for the fourth time - an international congress promoting solutions in the field of sustainable development and circular economy. An important partner of Circular Week 2021 is the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform, an EU organisation associating CE stakeholders from the European Union. This year’s congress will be held under the motto “Together for a sustainable future” and will include a series of expert panels, webinars, workshops and networking sessions addressed to representatives of businesses, startups, think tanks and public administration.
- Last year, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Circular Week was attended by over 3,500 people from around the world. We organized 56 events in cooperation with 17 countries - says Agnieszka Sznyk, president of the Board of the Institute for Innovation and Responsible Development INNOWO. - This year we will be joined by partners from Scandinavia, Canada and Israel, which is why we focus even more on the topics of innovation that can be implemented and scaled to all markets. I am pleased with the growing interest in the congress, which proves the growing need for implementing circular economy solutions.
Circular Week is a response to both environmental and social challenges. Thanks to the concept of Circular Economy, stakeholders begin to reasonably manage the planet’s resources and change the functioning of the economy in such a way as to close product cycles and turn waste into valuable resources. The designed tools are based on novel technologies and focus on the optimal use and processing of raw materials, often from second circulation.
So far, over 30 institutions, companies and start-ups as well as embassies of European countries have been involved in the organisation of Circular Week, incl. Embassies of the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and Sweden. This year, the group of partners has been joined by the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform - an organisation associating national entities operating in the field of circular economy.
The circular economy of the future - challenges and opportunities
During this year’s edition of Circular Week, solutions to the key challenges facing the modern economy will be proposed, such as: extended producer responsibility, building circular cities, wise food management, development of bioeconomy, sustainable production in the fashion industry, and changes in the plastics industry. - Climate change, which we not only hear about in the media, but also experience more and more often requires decisive action. Circular Week is an opportunity to exchange knowledge necessary for activities for the benefit of our planet. – comments Cezary Ludwikowski from the National Centre of Climate Change
During Circular Week 2021 daily thematic sessions are planned for business representatives (Business Circular Matchmaking Sessions), devoted to circular industry issues, such as wasting textiles and food, or sustainable agriculture and industry.
