Waste Management in South-East Europe - market trends

South-East European Conference & Exhibition
Waste Management, Recycling & Environment

28-30 March 2012, Sofia, Bulgaria

Each year Europe throws away 2.7 billion tonnes of waste, 98 million tonnes of which is hazardous. On average only 40% of our solid waste is re-used or recycled, the rest is going to landfill or incineration.

A Roadmap to a Resource Efficient Europe was set recently out by the European Commission. Its aim is to transform Europe’s economy into a sustainable one by 2050. The improving waste management makes better use of resources and can open up new markets and jobs, as well as encourage less dependence on imports of raw materials and lower impacts on the environment.

The waste management sector in South-East Europe needs to accelerate implementation of new technologies and this makes it an attractive investment destination. Market trends and good business opportunities in this part of Europe will be outlined at the forthcoming South-East European Conference and Exhibition on Waste Management, Recycling and Environment ‘Save the Planet’ which will be held from 28 until 30 March 2012 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

For the second time Austria, one of the international leaders in environmental technology, is a focus country of the event and there will be an Austrian Pavilion. EREMA Engineering Recycling Maschinen und Anlagen GmbH will showcase within it plastic recycling systems and technologies for the plastics processing industry ecoSAVE®. It is a comprehensive package comprising design and process engineering measures to reduce energy consumption by up to 10%.  ecoSAVE®  enables plant operators to reduce overheads and bring down CO2 emissions also in the future through optimised energy consumption.

Among the exhibitors is IFE Aufbereitungstechnik GmbH - the world’s leading manufacturers of vibroconveyors, screening machines and magnetic separators. The visitors will take a first-hand look at a diversity of new technologies and equipment. The exhibition scope includes also waste collection, treatment, landfill and composting, transport vehicles, environmental monitoring & protection services, etc.

The Organizer Via Expo has invited high-level speakers from 20 countries. Hot topics like Waste Treatment Technologies, Landfilling,  Waste Prevention, Recycling, Energy and Resource Recovery will be the highlights in the program.

Parallel events are the 8th Congress and Exhibition on Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy and SEE Solar Exhibition.
